Austin Polished Concrete Floors

How we usually handle a project

How we usually handle scope, updates, and finish decisions, from the first assessment to the final walkthrough. Details vary by job.

How our projects usually run

  1. Written scope

Before work starts, your written proposal lists the areas, prep, repairs, and finish for your job. Anything it doesn't list isn't included.

  2. Protection and dust control

What fits depends on the job, so we talk through protecting nearby surfaces, dust control, and cleanup during the consultation. We don't promise zero dust.

  3. Slab assessment

We look at your slab first. Depending on the slab and the system, we may run checks such as moisture testing. We'll go over what we find, and any known limits, during the consultation.

  4. Sample approval

When the job calls for it, we may make a sample on a typical part of the floor. A sample shows the general look, and the finished floor can still vary from it.

  5. Approved changes

We talk any change to the scope or price through with you first, then handle it the way your signed proposal describes.

  6. A named contact

We'll let you know who to call during the work.

  7. Updates at key points

We'll talk about when you can expect updates, such as after prep, at sample decisions, and at the end of the job. Timing depends on the job.

  8. Walkthrough and care

When the job is done, we go over the finished areas with you and talk you through care, cure times, and upkeep in person. We're available after the job if you have questions or concerns.

  9. How to raise a concern

Tell us the area, what you noticed, and when, and send photos through the contact form or your project contact. Once we've looked at it, we'll talk through next steps with you. What we can do depends on the cause and your signed proposal.

What the written specs should cover

  • The grinding, fine grinding (honing), hardening, and polishing steps. A protective treatment only if it's in the specs.
  • How much stone should show and the look you're aiming for, including any sample it's based on and what to expect at the edges.
  • Visible repairs, joints and variation accepted in the sample.
  • Access, protection, cleanup, and when the floor can be used again.

When you can use the floor again depends on the system and the conditions on site. Warranty terms, if any, vary from project to project depending on the materials, the slab, and your needs. We discuss them during the consultation, and only what's written in your signed proposal applies. We don't set one cure time for every job, guarantee invisible repairs, or promise a floor that needs no maintenance.

Every project starts with an on-site evaluation. Actual scope, pricing, and expected results depend on your specific substrate condition, environment, and project requirements. The website describes our services in general terms. Your signed proposal governs the actual work.

Have a concern?

Send us your concern: where it is, when it showed up, and wide and close up photos. Don't put any new treatment on the floor until we've found out what system is already there. Keep people out of any unsafe area until we've looked at it.
