Polished concrete floor care: how to clean and maintain your floor

Polished concrete floor care is mostly simple: keep grit off, clean with a product that suits your floor, and call us if haze or worn paths stay after cleaning.

Everyday care

Keep grit off the floor

Good polished concrete floor care starts with keeping grit off, since grit is what scratches the finish. Use clean entry mats with a backing that won't harm the floor, and pick up dry dirt with a dust mop or a vacuum made for the job. Clean more often where foot traffic brings in grit. If haze or worn paths stay after cleaning, our concrete polishing crew can look at the floor.

Clean for the floor you have

Use the cleaner, mix ratio, equipment, and pad we go over with you when the job is done. Keep mops and pads clean, and take up residue the way the product label says. And don't assume every pH neutral cleaner is safe for your floor.

Spills and furniture

Clean up spills fast, the way we talked through with you. Lift furniture instead of dragging it, and keep good pads under the legs. Keep people off wet or dirty spots until they're clean and dry.

When regular cleaning isn't enough

If haze, scratches, or worn paths are still there after the right cleaning, we can check whether the protective coat or the concrete itself needs work. Renewing the coat, burnishing (buffing with a fast machine), and repolishing are different jobs. Which one fits depends on what's on your floor and what we find when we check it.

No yearly recoat or fixed restoration schedule fits every polished floor, so decide how often you want us to check it based on the traffic and wear it really gets.

When the job is done

  • We walk you through care, cure times, and upkeep in person.
  • We talk through the cleaner, mix ratio, equipment, and pads that suit your floor.
  • We go over when you can usually walk on it, move furniture back, and wet clean.
  • We look over the finished floor together and talk through anything still left to do.
  • We're available after the job if you have questions or concerns.
